Does your phone allow for electronic SIM cards? If you check under SIM manager in your phone settings you can determine if eSIMs are possible. If you would like to have data on your phone in other countries, without expensive roaming fees consider using Airalo.
We used the Airalo app to purchase, install, and activate eSIMs while away. It worked brilliantly. We purchased the 3 eSIMs (one for each country) and installed them before we left home.
As we arrived in a new country, we turned on the roam option to activate. The eSIM time starts as soon as it connects to the cell network.
When we arrived in Portugal, I sent a help request via the Airalo app because I couldn’t connect right away. Within an hour, I heard back that there was a glitch, and it was resolved. I had no connectivity issues afterward. I appreciated the prompt reply.

This is a great solution for us for short-term multi-country tours. Since our family at home can message through Facebook or email, we only need data services.
