Packing List for 50+ Travellers
With each trip we take, we find ways to pack lighter, even if the trip lasts longer. Less really is more. We can now travel with carry-on bags only and use the laundry mat while away.
Here are some items to consider:
Medications and Health
- first aid kit- bandages, antiseptic wipes
- pack medications in labelled containers & make copies of prescriptions
- Invest in compression socks for long flights (our travel insurance covers the cost of a fitted pair if prescribed by a doctor)
- extra pair of prescription glasses
Clothing
- take quick-dry clothing that can be hand-washed. We often shop for travel clothes in second-hand shops like Talize.
- consider investing in merino wool socks/shirts
- a waterproof raincoat
- hat for sun protection
Travel Documents
- create a one-page summary of all reservation details to print
- download all important booking information for flights, hotels, tours etc. in one place- we use Google Drive
- make copies of all credit cards and passport details for a digital file
- give family/friends a copy of your itinerary
Technology
- A/C adapters for the correct countries
- use ebooks/audiobooks from your public library and download the app. They are free and take up no space.
- cell phone for photos
- Use an eSIM like Airalo or Yesim (I have roaming turned off on my phone plan)
- portable charging block
