We disembarked from the Celebrity Eclipse on December 23 at this busy port. We travelled through 5 time zones while on the cruise. We also crossed the line of Capricorn just as the summer solstice began! We started our cruise at 32 degrees N and ended at 26 degrees S.
We explored the city of Valparaiso, another UNESCO site, with beautiful murals! The city is built into the hills overlooking the deep harbour. We took a funicular down the steep street that was built in 1907. The weather was warm and perfect for touring.
We also travelled to the resort city of Vina del Mar and had a seafood lunch and our 2nd Pisco sour. We watched sea lions warming themselves on rocks. I saw my first Inca tern-beautiful. Vina del Mar is a beautiful resort town with miles of beach.
Finally, we drove into the Casablanca Valley famous for its farms and wineries. It is the food basket of Chile. Many of the foods in our Canadian grocery stores come from this part of Chile. We enjoyed tasting wine from a small family-run winery- Bodegas RE and saw a cork tree up close.

I took my first plane ride at 6 months of age and I have never looked back! I met my husband because of a travel photo. Together, we have travelled to 47 countries; some for a day and some for a couple of years! We love to share what we have learned along the way to make travel easier for those of us who are middle-aged with mid-range budgets.
