Why We Like Cruising
We often choose to cruise when we are curious about a new place that may be difficult to travel by land due to geography or the lack of our limited language skills. Navigation is done for you and that can make a trip more enjoyable. Not having to pack and unpack each day is another huge advantage to us!
Another reason to cruise is to sample places so that you can go back to stay longer.
We often use a cruise as our mode of transportation. Cruising can sometimes reduce flight distances.
We discovered repositioning cruises (where the ship begins and ends in different ports) and travelling on the shoulder seasons (spring/fall in North America) are cheaper, less crowded and have unique destinations.
We have crossed the equator twice and sailed through the Prime Meridian (0 degrees longitude) once on our transatlantic crossings.
We have successfully booked many cruises with Vacationstogo.com. We find they provide a great search tool and we learn about unique itineraries. It can be a great place to find a deal on cruises 90 days out. Don’t let the older-looking style of the website discourage you! They are a travel agency based in Houston, Texas, and can offer more affordable trips and travel insurance. We have been happy with their service.
We have booked cruises on a variety of cruise lines through Vacations To Go. We receive loyalty points from the cruise companies as if it were a direct booking. We don’t have a favourite cruise company. They all have advantages and drawbacks. We try to find the best value with a unique itinerary.
Select the best Cruiseline for you
Matching your preferences to the right cruise line will make your holiday more enjoyable. We now dress more casually so that we can travel with only carry-on bags. Not having to wait for luggage makes embarkation and disembarking a breeze!
We don’t subscribe to the drinks or internet packages as we feel that they are not of good value. I think this is where cruises make most of their money!! We do participate in some excursions, but don’t feel it’s necessary at every port. These are some of the ways we keep our cruise budget in the mid-range.
Another great place to book cruises is on Expedia.ca, and you will earn rewards, and if you are Canadian, it will be TICO protected.
Our Cruise Passport
When you return from a trip it’s nice to have a way to remember it. We have created a cruise passport on @emmacruises’ latest app, called The Cruise Globe. Check it out for your cruise itineraries. It’s a great way to record your voyages.
Here’s our latest passport!
